The OSHC-Region 6 jumpstarted the conduct of the free virtual 40-hr Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training for safety officer 2 (SO2). The training is mandatory for establishments in the general industries with the need for an SO2 in pursuance to Section 3(v) of the DOLE Department Order No. 198-18, otherwise known as the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Republic Act 11058, “𝐀𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐨𝐟.”
“This is our way of giving assistance to the industries because of the effects of the pandemic. This training is in compliance with RA 11058. Wherein, every establishment shall have a safety officer. We hope that this is not merely for compliance but will inculcate a culture of safety and health as a way of life,” said Evelyn C. Tandayu, Chief of OSHC-Environment Control Division.
The course includes learning sessions that will develop the expertise of the promising safety officers on OSH basic concepts and principles towards compliance with the OSH Standards. The program also comprises the 2-hr trainers’ training, giving participants the confidence to be effective trainers in delivering OSH topics for their fellow workers.
“We will have five more free batches for this calendar year. We will also be conducting free 40-hr Construction Safety and Health (COSH) training very soon. At the same time, we are continuously conducting free SO1 training every month. We are committed to making OSHC’s #Vision1Million a reality here in Western Visayas,” OSHC-Region 6 OIC Melveen M. Melocoton stated.
